Mr C. Renn said that the principle adopted by the Citizens' Association of paying Arbitration Court minimum wages violated a principle laid Jown by the Court that a wage should be fixed' for the least efficient, but that ability should be paid for. The speaker dealt at length with the platform of tlie party, and stated that if elected Labour councillors would strive for an increase in municipal trading services, a vigorous housing policy to be carried out by the Councii, more children's playgrounds, a children's cinema, wages for municipal workers on the 1914 standard, and the granting of an annual holiday to all employees of the Council.
