Commandant Duggan, one of the ■best-known figures in the revolutionary movement in Ireland, died' in Februarv. 'Known <<-s "Baby" Duggan, be vrti-i only 18 years of age when he took part in the rebellion of 1916, in which he was captured. He was, however, released under the Christmas amuesty of that year. He subsequently had some narrow escapes when leading flying columns in Galway and Claa«. A reward of one thousand pounds, afterwards increased to ten thousand, was offered for information that wonM lead to his capture: but he was never taken prisoner until he took sides against the Free State after the burning and evacuation of Renmore depot, which be had commanded.
