"Up to the present we have received from readers of "The Press" amounts totalling £l6B 7s towards the fond for the restoration of St. Paul's Cathedral. Wo shall keep our list open for soma little time yet, and we hope that those who feel disposed to do so will send tat j their subscriptions as soon as they can.? The amount collected is of less import* { ance than the number of contributors. 5 The list of those who have already subscribed is too long to print daily, but we hope that when we are dosing the fund we shall find space to print the full list. (BT CAXIX—T&ZSB ASSOCIATION—COrSBIGBT^ ("Amps.") LONDON, April 1. Impressive incidents attended evensong in St. Paul's Cathedral, being taa n { occasion of the last service under tha ,--% dome prior to the closing of the eastern & part for the work of preservation.
It is estimated that the work will J take six years. Services, in the mean- 4 time, will be held in the western end *Jj of the nave, and. St. Dunstan'a Chapel <| The organ is no longer in use, but $b part may be moved and rc-ereeted|s^ temporarily. « The high altar is to moved to thft centre of the nave. •% The Cathedral will now aecommodata -'. 1000 people only stead of 7000 normally. ~ (
