PICTORIAL ADVERTISEMENT PROPOSED.
FIRM INCREASES ITS OFFER
•lust linn- good is the proposal of the firm of advertising agents for the utilisation of tho tramway shelters in Cathedral square for tho purpose of displaying, at night time, pictorial advertisements on a screen that will lie flat on the roof durng the daytime, may bo gathered from the statement that the firm referred to has substantially increased the rental that it is prepared to pay to the Citv Council.
It will be recalled, probably, that the original rental offered was £6OO per annum. It is understood that the firm is now offering £4OOO for the right to disla*- pictorial advertisements on the Cathedral square shelters for a period of live years, or nt the rate of £BOO per annum..
"It was suggested to a representative of "The Press" by the gentleman who gave this information that if the proposition is so good that tho firm could offer this substantial advance on its original offer, that it should be good enough for the City Council to take on tho whole business and reap the full measure of profit.
