THE NEW BUILDING SCHEME,
Evidence of tho progressiveness of the Canterbury Automobile Association is given by the fact that the enlargement of the Association's premises in Worcester street has been decided upon, at an estimated cost of slightly over £4OOO.
The secretary-organiser (Mr ,T. S. Hawkcs) told a reporter yesterday that the contract for the extensive alterations to tho Association's buildings, decided upon some time ago had just been Jet to Mr \V. Williamson at the sum indicated. Another storey is to bo added to the front of the building, and two storeys aro to bo added to the rear portion, The second storey in front is to be utilised for the housing of the Officers' Club. The Canterbury A. and P. Association's office and staff will remove into the portion of the building at present occupied by the Automobile Association's office and staff, and new jffices for the Automobile Association yre to be provided on the opposite side of the main entrance. Tho whole of the ground floor at the back of the building will be made one large meeting room.
Work on the additions and alterations will be put in hand almost immediately, as they are to be completed in August.
