HARBOUR BOARD.

* MONTHLY MEETING. The Lyttellon Haibour Board met at Lyttclton yesterday. Present—Messrs I'. Horrcll (chairman), M. J. Jl'licr, H. H. Holland, W, K. McAJpine, J. Stacry, A, J. Magson, It. Galbranh, JK. McCartney, \V. 0. SV alter, Dr. H. T. J. Thicker, and the Hon. K. Moore. Applications for increase of salary irozn 23 officers of the Board were referred to the finance Committee. Engineer's Report. •The engineer reported as follows:—Bearing piles bavo been driven for a distance of 936 feet, caps laid for 921 feet, floor- ~ beams for 876 feet and lower decking for "63 feet. Tho rat proof retaining wall behind the wharf hud been completed for a distance of 781 feet. Twenty-live capstans have been overhauled and satisfactorily tested for insulation. Main cables have been erected from sub-staticn to the inner end iif the Gladstone Pier. Capstans have been Installed at No. 5 Storo ttwo capstans), Dock Store and cattle yard (one capstan). The foundations for capstans on No. 5 jetty are in hand. The Public Work? Department is maiing progress with the installation cf larger transformers and rearrangements of ewitch boajds. Progress 13 naturally slow, as a great deal of the work can only bo done on Sundays, when tho current can bo cut off. During the month the dredge Canterbury has lifted a quantity of 131,106 tons from the cuter channel, the whole of wMch has been ruirped into the reclamation area. The grab dredge Tewhaka. has during tho same period lifted 2520 tons from No. 3 W, No. 6 E, Xo. 6 W. Xo. 7 E. and ,Xo. 7 \V. Tne whole quantity has been dumped at sea. j
