Sir, —Mr J. W. Beanlaud has no intention of entering., into any ; controversy, mth the executive -of the Citizens' Association regarding his' caTtdidaturc. for the Mayoralty, :iud *is -coiltent to leave the public to form its own opinion as to the attitude now being taken up by a- certain - section' of the Association.',
The. members of the deputation which-'waited upon 'Mr Bear.lanctprior to the last election were Meters G. T.Booth, G. Hall, F. 'W. Hobbs, A. McKellar, H. G. Livingstone, ' "William Hay ward. William Maciiin, John Anderson, A. F. Drayton, 'William Gos» and S. Paterson. -.A number of theso gentlemen.. believed then—and stall believe—that the ■ intention underlying the agreement arrived ; jit on that 'occasion- that Mr Bcanland should receive the Association's support', ait ithe coming election, and have assured him of their hearty support in his candidature this year for the.
