Dr. Marshall said that the Institute represented the whole body of K»htifie thought and activity ia the BUdiion. Ia tho latest volumes had beoa published the valuablo research work done lor the officers of the Agricultural Dtpiil—< and of the Geographical aad Surrey, but if the Institute had Mrtt been in existence the results af this would have had to be pnMimhcd elsewhere. From its estabfisfcsMHt w 1869 up to the present time tho Xnstitute had published aa animal MfatM tf its transactions. The pentin a«w was that they would either have to ieda*® the yearly volume to one-half Hi present size or publish every alterant* year only.
