KEEN WATCH ON MOVEMENTS. VOLSTEAD AMENDMENT. (•T CABLS—7EESS ASSOCIATION —COPTSIGST) (austbaliak axd n.z. cable association.) (Received February Bth, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 7. Many Government craft are on tho watch off the New Jersey coast to prevent the smuggling of liquor from the largest rum fleet ever assembled off the shore in a year. The liquor fleet is 42 miles off the coast, slowly moving northwards, a 3000-ton steamer leading the procession with cases of liquor piled high on her decks. The Government vesaelß aro kept at a distance of a few miles, with Iheir decks cleared for action. A message from Reno, Nevada, says that a poll of the Nevada Assembly upon a prohibition resolution, which calls upon Congress to assemble a convention of States to modify the Eighteenth Amendment, shows it will be approved by a large majority according to its supporters.
A BIG SEIZURE. (EEUTER's telegrams.) (Received February Bth, 11.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 7. A message from Plymouth, Massachusetts, says that after a fight on the pier between 30 rum runners and coastguardsmen, the latter seized liquor valued at a hundred thousand dollars and six prisoners.
