Chamberlain, however, came up well, and the rest bunched together, Leatham waa well up behind Chamberlain, with Scuffell following him closely. Chamberlain won by a length, with the second and third mpn half a wheel each behind.

In the last lap they bunched together and O'Shea, tho scratch man, came right through and took the lead, eventually winning by half a length and establishing a tveck record from scratch. In the last lap Iho order was Morwood, Silvester, Gobbe, Burnsiue, with O'Shea, Henderson and Sowden nest. Then O'Shea and Henderson caught tlie front men on the turn from the back straight, the former making a big sprint which seemed him the race. Halfway through the rear stretch Sherwood showed up well with Gray following, but Sherwood held his place to the finish, winning by three-quarters of a length. Savage then made a strong sprint, but loot ground to Henderson and Marra. Tho final lap saw a hard fight between O'Shoa and Henderson, and in the last -few yards O'Shea camo to light with a thrilling Bprint and secured a popular win. In this issue is advertised tbo programme for next Saturday evening, and the public can again be assured of seeing high-class racing. Keen interest is being taken in the series o£ teat races to se'ect the rider who, in company with. Phil O'Shca, -will oppose Willie Spencer, tho world's sprint champion. Heats will be run off, and with Leathern, Henderson, Mackie, and itim strong in the running for selection, racing of a high order is assured. A half-mile scratch raco will see all tho champions competing, and good fields are exj-ected in the half-anilo eecondclass and qiiarter-mile open handicap. Professional -runners will be engaged in a 133 yds handicap, ajsd will include Macdonakl, Kelly, and Barwell. A 75yds dath handicap will be contested, by the amateur sprinters and altogether » fine evening's sport is expected. Eutries for all events close on "Wednesday next.
