A fire which was started by a candle On a Christmas tree, and the bursting of a dam, caused the loss of many lives in distant parts of America on Christmas Eve. j Bandits Active. In New Orleans a single man held up a bank and thou escaped with £3OOO. A Canadian gang held up a bank in a mining town, but three of tho robbers were caught and part of the booty recovered.
