Cricket. Tlie following team has been selected to plav against New Brighton in the inter-borough match on January 2nd:— H. W. F. Hamilton, I. M. Hamilton, R. C'. Hamilton, A. Rattray, J. Martin, \Y. Merritt, R. Cree. W. Hampton, 11. Wilson, A. .Saunders, C. Smith, G. Jcrard (twelfth man). Life-saving. A meeting of ladies was held on Wednesday evening, Mr ,T. C. McDonald presiding. The chairman explained the objects of the meeting, stating that the formation of a ladies' section skilled in practical life-saving was very desirable' in the interests of the club and of bathers generally. The following officers were elected: —Superintendent, Mrs T. Newburgh; deputy-superintend-ent, Mrs F. J. Glackin: committee, Mrs G. Foster, Mrs Belcher, Mrs Climie, Mrs "\Vetbev, and Misses - Barnett, D. Aburn, K. Thomas, and F. Allen. New Year's Eve Dance. At a meeting of the New Year's Eve Dance Committee, Mr T. B. Boulton presiding, a Decoration Committee, consisting of Mesdames T. B. Boulton, L. ■Treleaven, S. Dean, and Misses R. Boulton, and M. Allen w.as appointed. It was decided that the hall be decorated in multi-coloured streamers, and that a late tram to run be secured. The secretary reported that Mr H. C. Jamieson had promised to supply a quantitv of shrubs for decoration, and that Miss Tillyshort's orchestra had been engaged. It was also stated that the concert recently held in the Town Hall had been a great success, and, thanks to a very generous donation, the sum of £l3 iGs Gd had been realised. Sumnor-Redcliffs Footpath. The work of constructing this footpath is going ahead very rapidly. The concrete kerbing extends for several chains, but considerable work has yet to be done in the formation cf the footpath surface. Titles. With a strong easterly prevailing, high spring tides may be expecteu. The undermining of the sea-wail at tiie pier is still very marked, and rocks that have not been seen for many years arc now fully exposed.
