THE WEATHER. (sriciix to "thi puss. 1 ') GREYMOL'TH, December 26. Unsettled weather was' experienced throughout the West Coast to-dav, heavy showers falling at frequent intervals. The conditions t>his evening are not promising for the second day of the Hokitika races. Magistrate's Court. John William Gray was sentenced'to 14 days' imprisonment at Hokitika today on a charge of using obscene language. Messrs F. McGregor and E. Richards, J.P.'s, were on the Bench. G-reymouth Regatta. The Greymonth Regatta has now become a popular feature of Boxing Day, and a large crowd witnessed the various events, which were decided to-day on the river. The following were tho results:— Youths' Sculling Handicap.—Magee 1. Won very easily. Sailing Race (six metres class), miles.—McDonald Bros.' Xellio 1, W~. Rees, at one time a linotypo operator on the "Westport News,", leaves in a fortnight's time for bourne.Mrs. W. (J. McDonald (Christchurch) is visiting Westport as the guest of Mrs G. Aitkcn. Messrs D. Moloney and Rosenberg I collected a store of gifts on Christmas I Eve and took' them to tho inmates of the O'Connor Home. . The* pioneers were grateful to the donors and in consequence will spend a very, happy time during tho festive season.
