Train Service. To-day (Boxing Day) the ordinary train time-table will be observed on the Christ-church-Lyttelton line, with the followingalterations: —The usual 6.40 a.m. and 5.10 p.m. Lyttelton-Cnristchurch trains, and the usual 7.20 a.m. and 5.45 p.m. p.m. Christ-church-Lyttelton trains will not run. Special trains will leave Christchurch for Lyttelton at 9.25 a.m., 10.25 a.m., and 6.15 p.m., and Lyttelton for Chrißtchurch at 9.55 a.m., 5.30 p.m., and 6.45 p.m. The Pictures. A special holiday double feature programme will bo screened at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night. The two features are "Long Live the King 1 ," starring Jackie Coogan, and "The Fighting Fury," featuring Jack Hoxie. A oomedjr and a gazette will also be shown. There will be a matinee this afternoon. To-morrow "The Girl in the Limousine," a six-reel comedy made from the stage, play, and starring Larry Semon, will be screened, together with a cqmedy and gazette. A special attraction is tho engagement of two local artists, Miss Mary Bald, soprano, and Mr A. Murray, baritone. Personal Mrs W. G. Carson is leaving to-day on a visit to her daughter,' Mrs J. Petrie;- vicar of Holy Trinity, and Mrs Petrie are leaving on. a? holiday visit to Dunedin. at Holy Trinity for the next three weeks will be taken by the Rev. P. H. Pritohett. Fire Brigade. The treasurer of tfie Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade has received a cheque for_Jßl Is from Mr, Jock Blaokler, in recognition of the Brigade's services on the occasion of the Bmall. fire on his property some weeks ago. On Christmaß Eve a reunion of honorary and active members wna held in the Brigade's social room. Musical items were given and a veryT>leasant evening was spent. Holy Trinity Church. Christmas services' were conducted at Holy Trinity Church yesterday, Holy Communion being celebrated at 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Imst evening "the Rev. A. J. Petrie conducted a lantern service, his subject being "The Nativity." Many beautiful lantern slides were shown, the lantern being operated by Mr W. G. Carson. All services, were largely attended. At last-, evening service the cantata "The Coming of Emanuel'' was sung by the choir, under the-conbjuctor-Bhip of the organist, Mr A. A. Swaby. The congregation were' most' appreciative. The soloists were Misses E...Muxlow,'.L, Crocker, F. Barraclough, Mrs A. Swaby, Messrs' W. G. Carson, F. Roberton, E. Muxlow, and S. Tredennick. The junior choir girls also had a leading part.

St. Saviour's Church. Christmas" Day services were' held at St. Saviour's, "West Lyttelton, yesterday. Holy Communion was celebrated at 7 a.m;, 8 avm., and. 11. a.m. The vicar, the. Key. T. M. . Curnow, conducted all cervices. The Christmas Season. Traders in the port state that business during Christmaa week has shown a decided improvement this' year, as compared with the past two years, although it is considerably below former years. The fact that several traders in port have, during the paat year, reorganised their -businesses on modern lines, no doubt accounts, in part, for the improvement. Christmas Eve passed without incident except for a constant bombardment of firewoiks. Indeed, so great was the fireworks nuisance thut the central part of London street, at a late hour, was carpeted with debris from crackers and bombs.
