He alfo '' •>id a irib"te to the work of the Rev. G. Hercus in his endeavours to obtain a District High School for Methvon. That this has been granted is mainly due to Mr Hercus's efforts.

The Rev. G. Hercus {rave an address on the proposed working <f the High School and detailed the subjects which would be taught. The conditions of admission were shown to be very liberal. For the first year pupi's will be housed in temporary classroom?. Although a lot has been achieved, there was still a dsal to be <iccomplished. It was the desire of the committee to strengthen the technical side of the curricu'um and he exhorted all "parents to assist the project by every means in their power. The average attendance was the main factor, and he pointed out tliat a commencement with a roll of 33 or 36 would ensure a stall of two teachers.

Mr J. R. Dalton %lso spoks and moved a very liforty vote of thanks to the staff for their efforts, and he particularly mentioriad the splendid way in which the children had been trained for the ooncert. Mr Tt. N. Elliott moved the following resolution:—"That this meeting of householders of the Mt.
