TRAMWAY ELECTIONS.
POLLING TO-DAY. The election of a new Tramway Board will bo conducted to-day. Two candidates. Messrs W. J. Walter (AvonNew Brighton), and J. Barr (Hills-bum-ner) were elected on nomination without opposition, but the following candidates for the different districts will face the electors to-day:— Central. (Five members.) J. K. Archer (Labour). . . *G. T. Booth (Citizens' Association). C. L. Carr (Labour). C. E. C'ro33 (Independent). "J. A. Flesher (Citizens' Association). J. MeComba (Labour). G. T. Owen (Labour). "H. Pearce (Citizens' Association). C. Renn (Labour). *A. S. Tavlor (Citizens' Association). E. W. White (Citizens' Association). Riccarton-Fendalton. (One member.') H. G. Livingstone (Citizens' Association). J. Wood (Independent). Spreydon-Addington. (One member.) F. R. Cooke (Labour). *D. Sykes (Independent). Avon-New Brighton. (One member.) '-' W. .T. Walter (Citizens' Association), elected. HiUs-Sumnar. (One member.) *J. Barr (Independent), elected. The stars indicate thoso candidates who were members of the former Board, Messrs J. W. Reanland ('Central), and S. A. Staples (Ricearton-Sockburn) who sat on the former Board, did not seek re-election. Since the last- election, certain changes have been made in the boundaries of tho sub-distric-ts. the principal change being the elimination of the old Lin wood sub-district and the inclusion of that area in the Central district, which now returns five members in place of four. -The Central roll contains 43,48:5 names, and those of the suburban districts 21,605. The polling hours will be frovn 9 a.in to 7 p.m., and 47 polling booths will I>o btotioneci ir. the area where tho voting is to be recorded.
