The sinking of three wells of_ .diameter for increasing the Napier water supply has now been completed at McLean Park. The aggregate flow of the three wells is 3,500,000 gallons a day. Test bores had previously been sunk by the Council to determine the nature of the underground water beds before sinking the larger bores, which were placed only a few feet distant. This particular test bore proved water-bearing gravels from 196 "to. 224 feet, giving a flow of 40 gallons per minute from the Sin diameter pipe tased, and between 238 ft and 242 ft levels 7o gallons per minute was obtained, terminating in denser gravels at 247 ft level with a diminishing flow. It was therefore clear that the best results could be more reasonably expected from the 2A2£t Isvel, .TShkh. was decided y V - * V
