RIFLE SHOOTING.

CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. A general meeting of the Canterbury liifle Association was held on Saturday evening. There was a large ' attendance of delegates over whom il'ajor J. P. Oakes, presided. Tho programme for the ..annual prize meeting to bo held at Purdcliffs on January Ist and 2nd nest was drawn up, based on 10f> entries with a prize-list of £3l for each ot the six matches, aggregating. 3S prizes per match. There arc also two service matches carrying a prize-list of 16 prizes totalling £lO for each match. The champion grand aggregate will hare a prize-list of £26, while a gold, silver and bronze medal will go to the rlaced competitors. Besides the Tyro the champion teams match \yi,l afso take place, tho wirfning team hoidinthe Association's handsome shie.d for two v e months. Several donations and trophies have been received in addition to the a-rcady large prizze-list. including a handsome cold medal presented by Mr Edwin Fox- of Rakaia. which goes to the winner of the John Fox memorial cup. The meeting decided that the shoot by <or the Oake. ch.ll engo shield will commence at I.U p.m. on bat frdav December 27th. at Bedohffs. and in order to the match being . completed time for country teams 1o catch their Uains? two targets Vrill be allotted to each Entries -ill close with the secretary, Mr R Xeill, on Wednesday, December the coot of the shield is being subscribed to by. ardent supporters of the Aesocnuion.
