ORGAN RECITALS.
*° TE» BDtTO* OF "TH» JSMt." , Sir,—l wish to express what I feel sure 13 the feeling of a great number of people at the close of this series of Cathedral organ, recitals, a deep sense of gratitudo to I>r. Bradshaw. None who were present at the la&t recital could doubt the immense value of such music. I think that it is not too much k> say that there is do finer educative Wctor in the community. It is an appeal to the highest and best in us and one has not derived the full benefit of such an organ recital if he does not go aTr ay feeling lifted once more out of the common. lut and baser thought and harshness, resolved to keep those highest ideals before him. which wo so easily and quickly lose in the all too practical and inartistic daily life. It may not be realised in as many words but the influence is there all the samo and what is it if not this spirituality Chat has up-reared civilisation, and ever caused man to strive to gain the masj tery over the baser animal nature. I have noted with pleasure the increased attendance at this year's recitals oyer those of last year, showing that the people are only just becoming aware of the beauty of organ music. It is to bo hoped that the organ fund has benefited proportionately and that we shall soon have the fine instrument that is projected. "V\e have not had Euffioient organ music in the'oast and in conclusion I would make this plea: that Dr. Bradshaw may be enabled in the near futuro to give another bcries of recitals, of which the people will take fuller advantage and pay more attention to this important devotion.—Yours, etc.. LOVER OF MUSIC.
