0 LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. THE FINALISTS. (MIXSS ASSOCIATION MLIMUU.) HAmLTOX, September 24. At the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Championship Mrs Peake (Cambridge) beat Miss Snodgrass (Rotorua) 3 and 1, and Miss M. Payton (Auckland) beat Miss O. Kay (Whangarei) 3 and 1. The Mellsop Cup was won by Mrs C4uy Williams (Wellington). Mrs Williams and Mrs Slack tied for the best gross score, Mrs Williams winning the plav off by a stroke. The final of tho championship will be played to-morrow.

MISS KAY'S ELIMINATION. (special to "the press.'') AUCKLAND, September 24. The semi-finals of tho New Zealand ladies' golf championship saw the elimination of Miss Kay, who was defeated by Miss M. Payton by three and one. Miss Kay lias created great interest by her remarkable play, and a large crowd followed her this morning. ' She was, however, suffering from neuralgia, and this had a marked effect upon her game. Had sho been quite fit, it is probablo she would have beaten Miss Payton. Xeither player produced anything like good . golf to-day. Miss Kay is a rcmarkablo driver for her age, and at tho third hole drove a ball 229 yards. The other semi-final produced golf quite up to championship standard. Donnelly Cup. Yesterday afternoon was taken up with a Handicap Medal Match over IS holes for a cup presented by the late Mrs G. P. Donnelly. The event was won by Mrs Halligan with a net score of 75. The detailed scores were: —

Teams' Match. In conjunction with the Donnelly Cup, a match for teams of four, open to clubs affiliated with the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Union, was played, the team putting in the best total gross score being the winner.
