STATE ADVANCES.
A DUNEDIN SUGGESTION. (lE£S3 ASSOCIATION TELIGEiU.) September r 23. In the court* of a letter to the Chamber of Commerce meeting, Mr James Begs traversed the present system of State Advances with special rciorenco' to the sale .of houses by returned soldiers who had acquired properties with the assistance of State loans. He suggested that- in order to terminate the condition that enabled the recipients of Government loans to.realise the capital value of the favour conferred on them, that thete loans should automatically mature, and be liquidated on a transfer taking place. This would ensure that, s-ales took place on the basis of the market value of the property and the monetary accommodation. Tho Chamber decided to make the suggestion a remit to the next conference.
