SYDNEY FERRY ACCIDENT.
BLAME ON THE CAPTAIN. (BY CABLE—PRESS ■ ASSOCIATION—COP YBIGHT) (ADSTRAIOAIf AND IC.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATIOH.) (Received -September 23rd, 1.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, September 22. The Marine Board enquiry in connexion with the accident to the ferry steamer Kareela, by which three lives ware lost at the Sydney wharves, resulted in Captain Grimston being called upon to show cause why his certificate should not be dealt with. Summing up, the Judge pointed out that the evidence showed that the captain, prior to leaving the wharf, failed to assure himself that the rudder was not clear, whereby he was guilty of culpable negligence. If he had tried to bring the ship to her proper course he would have found out in time that the rudder was locked.
