The Woolston Borough Council would never have permitted such an offence against public taste, and we would respectfully request that the City Council re-consider the'matter."

"Atrocious Injustice." Mr A. Heyder, of 14 Richardson torrace, writing from Carterton, said: "With great emphasis I wish to protest against the atrocious injustico dealt to the Woolston ratepayers and myself in particular by the action of your Council in granting permission to erect n hoarding on Mrs McCombs'a section in Ferry road, adjoining my property. Now, gctlemen, put it to yourselvos: Would any one of you countonaneo such an unsightly method of mftney-making being placed alongside your own premises? Why is Ferry road always used as a dumping' ground for hoardings? Would you have grantod permission for its erection on, say, tho corner of Office and Papanui roads, and why should the Woolston ratepayers be less considerately treated? I hope to bo back in Christchurch in a week, when I shall endeavour to do my best to prevent such another atrocity being foisted on our fair city, for despite what "some councillors say, tho hoardings roally aro hideous." A letter of protest against the erection of the proposed hoarding was also received from tho Woolston Burgesses* Association.

Archer: Wo don't want to bq discourtoous to the ox-Mayors of WooJston. The Council decided to receive the deputation at the next meeting, and to hold over the notico of motion to the same meeting. Cr, 0, Anderson; In the meantime will the hoarding bo erected. The Mayor: No, the whole thing will bo hung up, and tho applicants will be so advised, Lincoln Road.
