BANTAM CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The second annual meeting of the Canterbury' Bantam Club was held last night, Mr J.. D.;Gobbe presiding over a large attendance. The annual report, stated that th e annual show was held in Eangiora this year, and that it proved a big attraction. At tlie Christelmrcl& Poultry Show, 247 entries- came forward. The entry of Pekin. bantams was indifferent, as members could not tell whether their birds were "buff or cinnamon. Those two varieties would" have to be catered for separately in future. The Black Pekins were of a high order, and the game birds we're also a very good lot. Many good bantams were shown at Lyttelton Show. The winners of the Bantam Club Challenge Cups were: —Best rosecomb: Mrs J. Moffat (cockerel) ; Pekin: Master W. L. Gobbo (pullet)} game: Mr W, Gordon (cockerel) ; any other variety: Master R. G. Pearce (cockerel).." The year had been successful -financially,- Jthere being a credit balance of £6 19s sd, and £ll 3s having been paid~out in special prize-money. The chairman congratulated the club on its success, and said that if carried on in the way it had been,* it would soon become a very strong body. The report was adopted. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr A. Walker; sub-patrons, Messrs W. Esquilent, T. Brown, E. J. Boss, J. Higgins, E. D. Barry, H. B. Pengelly, H. P. Bollinson, P. Lindsay, W. Brown, T. Kennedy, W. H. Turvey, T. Loveday, E. Nickolls, W. Hart, F. Bust, A. Gapes, B. Pearce, J. Tindall, J. Jenkinson, J. Martin, P. Dacre, G. H. Bradford, and G. Wilkinson; president, Mr J. D. Gobbe (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs J. Moffat, J. Crabbe, F. J. Stephens, J. Chegwin, J. Tindall, and H. P. Bollinson; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. H. Biley; hon. auditor, Mr B. Pearce. Mr P. Dacre, of New Brighton, gave an interesting address on game bantams, and was accorded a vote of thanks.
