VANBRUGH-BOUCICAULT SEASON.
"HIS HOUSE IN ORDER." "His House in Order," the first play of the Vanbrugh-Boucicault season, was staged for the ltst time, in the presence of a crowded audionce. As on the previous nights both principals and their supports vrero accorded an oration. "MR PIM PASSES BY." Special interest is invested in tie production at tho Theatre Royal this evening and tomorrow and Thursday nights of "Mr Pirn Passes By," because" this delightful .comedy was specially written and theprincipal characters created for Miss Irene Var.brugh and Mr Dion. Boucieault, and a3~ a consequence these brilliant artists are presented at their very best as Mrs Maiden and Mr Pirn. Tho success won by "Mr Pirn Passes By" is w.thc-ut a precedent in either Auckland or "Wellington; in both cities the local theatres proved quito inadequate to accommodate the numbers which, nightlv endeavoured to obtain admission. "No liner character acting," said a critic recently, "has ever Deen enjoyed on tho stage than that of the absent-minded and mudd'.esoma old gentleman, Mr Pirn, perfectly interpreted by Mr Boucieault, and the memory of it will'live for ever with these who wero fortunate enough to enjoy it " The genius of Miss Vanbrugh will bi enjoved at its best in tho comedy rolo of Mrs Harden, her interpretation of which must be included with her best achievements. Mis 3 Vanbmg-h and Mr Boucieault will be supported by Messrs C. M. Hallard and Martin Walker, Misses Janet Ecc'es (who will make her first appearance here ihi3 evening), Lena. Halliday and Ethel Wcllesley. The staging and mounting will be a feature of the production of "Mr Pun Pfssfs By.'' . Owing to the brevity of lb-3 season only three w.rfonuincss can be staged of "Mr pim p Bv," and on Fnd:n', Saturday ond Monday "evening "The Second Mrs Ttt'-cuertiy" will be produced. On Tuesday next and"f™r folkwins nights the modern comedy triumph "Aren t We All? will bo sta-Td. The plans for the season are at , iuo Bristol Piano Co.
