LONDON, September 19
The Strasburg correspondent of the " Morning Post" gives an amazing case of victimisation of Prussian classicists. The Prussian National Library purchased a parchment manuscript alleged to be an unknown work of Titus Marcius Plautus. German professors learnedly commented on the work, but the French palaeographer, Chatelain, doubted its authenticity. An analysis of the ink revealed traces of aniline of recent origin. This was discovered just, in time to prevent the further purchase oj. alleged fragments of Livy's Servius.
