HEI HEI SETTLERS.
A POINT EXPLAINED. Some of tlie facts in the Parliamentary report relating to the conditions of the Hei Hei soldier-settlers' poultry farming operations, were not made us clear as they might have been. It, was stated in one paragraph of Mr V 11. Potter's report that it had been shown that the gross 'receipts of one man from eggs alone in one year had been £6OO. . This settler, who is a tuberculous intient, said that this really represented the work of two years. Although he had certainly made a gross £6OO in one year, it meant that he had worked the whole of the first year for nothing. And the cost over the two year 3 had been £'7so, therefore he was £l5O out in the total sum. This did not include wage 3, depreciation overhead expenses of cartage, and the 'men felt that they mubt have some relief r.s tho land was not worth what, was asked for it.
