DEATH OF PROFESSOR H.G. SMITH.
(Br CABLE—PEESS ASSOaATIO;."—COPHtIOHT) (AX7STBAMAS X.S. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) SYDNEY, September 20. The death is announced of Professor H. G. Smith, a prominent scientist, at the age of 72. [professor Smith was born in Kent in 1552 and arrived in Australia in 1883, joinig the staff of tho Sydney Technological Museum in 3 SSI. He has to his credit much original work, chiefly in the field of organic chemistry in relation to native Australian vegetation, especially iu regard to the oils of the pine and eucalyptus.]
