The outcome of one of the Christ-church branch's remits was that a register of Karitane. nurses will ho keut at each of tho bociety s Bay Hospitals, and a recommendation was made that anyone desirous of obtaining the services of aKa ritane Nurse should imply direct to tho matrons of the hospitals, who would bo in close touch with any available nurse. _ In order to safeguard the Karitane Nurses it was suggested that employers should ask to see the nurse'b certificate when engaging her -services. A sub-committee was set up, consisting of the executive and Mrs J. S. Neville, to find suitable offices, as the present rooms axe far too small and overcrowded a.t-certain times in the day. For the office. Nurso Allan reported 92 new cases (73 being breast-fed), 1' expectant mothers interviewed, 620 ■visits were paid to homes, .748 adults and 73S babies visited tho rooms. At tho Sydenham room, which. the nurse attends twice a week,, fee newcases, 126 babies, 132 adults and 42 older children wore seen.

At the Pnpauui rcom, which the nurso attends ouce a" week, five new cases, 60 adults, 58 babies and 11 older children were seen.

The high incidence of measles in th" town and suburbs has interfered with the visits of nurses to the homes, and of tho mothers and babies,to t.LtO;rooms,but tho telephone' calls have been more numerous.

Tho report of thn country out-sta-tions for the - month was received as follows: —

Soutbbridgc (2 visits), 1 new case, o babies, 13 adu}ts, -2 older childrea and 1 expectant mother interviewed. . Leeston (I'. visit): 1 new fcase, 9 babies, 15 adults and 3 older children se«n.

Springston t'l visit): 5 babies, ■ 7 aduits-and 1 now case seen. Lincoln (1 visit): 7 babies, 17 adults and 6 older children eeen.

Sumner (i visits): 2 new cases. 41 babies, <57 adults and 17 older children seen.

New Brighton (7 visits): 9 new cases, 100 babies, 42 older children,. 120 adults, and 2 expectant mothers interviewed. Belfast (2'visits): 3 new cases, 19 babies, 24 adults, 9 older children and 1 expectant mother interviewed. For the "Hospital, tho matron reported 17 ba.bies" admitted, 14 discharged, 14 in hospital, 4 mothers admitted, 13 discharged and 2 in hospital. Nurses Coleman, Wilson and Humphries wero successful in passing their final examinations. Nurses Hopkins and La wry commenced their training. The resignation of acting-Sister Brougham was received with regret, and Nurse McLean was appointed actingSister in her place from October Ist. A demonstration of feeding and care of, a baby was given by tho nurses to a class of pupils from iSt. . Margaret's College.
