SECOND ANNUAL SESSION.

The second annual session of the twenty-fourth Synod of the Dioceso of Christ-church will open for tho despatch of business in tho Provincial Council

Chamber at 10.80 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21st. The fixing of tho opening hour for this year's session at 10.30 a.m. is duo to the fact that tho public farewell to his Excellency tho GovernorGeneral is taking place in the afternoon. There will be, consequently no afternoon sitting of Synod on the opening ; day, and tho Most Rev. the President, Archbishop Julius, will deliver his address at tho beginning of the evening - sitting, after which tho Orders of the . Day will be taken. | The customary Synod senrice will be held in tho Cathedral a± S p.m. on Monday, October 20th, when tho preacher will be the Rev. E. E. Maiden. On Tuesday morning at 7.30 o'clock there will bo celebration of Holy Communion at tho Cathedral. At 8,15 o'clock tho Archbishop will bo the host at breakfast to tho members of Synod at tho Carlton Cafe. Tho folio whig committee of hospitality has been set up: the Ven. Arch- | deacon liaggitt, and Mr E. H. S. Hamj iiton. The wives of tho Cliristchurcli : clergy have invited all the clerical and lay members of the Synod, their wives, ; mid hosts and hostesses to tea at the I Jellicoo'Hall at 6 o'clock on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings of the first week of Synod. 'On October 23rd the cust-omary conference of the clergy only will be held at 10 a.m. afc tho Provincial Council i Chamber.

Notices of motion have been given by Mr G. H. Stening that the hours of sitting l>e from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and from "7.30 to 10 p.m.: by Mr C. E. Jones for leave to introduce a Bill to amend Financial Regulation 69: by tho Most Rev. the President, that £IOO from tho surplus revenue of tho Bishopric Estate be applied to make provision for the Sunday and week day duties of invalided clergy: by the Most Rev. the President that the Church Property Trust Estate subsidy be appropriated as follows:—Amount available £4590 3s lid; appropriation. Diocesan Board of Education, one-half subsidv, £1137 10s; cfjual grants to cures. 59 at £SO, £2&30: vicarage grants, 3 at £2O, £6O; dicocsan administration, ££o; surplus at discretion of Standing Ccmraittee £392 13s lid; and bv the Most. Rev. the President that the Church Property Trustees pav to the Cathedral Chapter £744 13s 2d" to meet the deficit in the year's working; £24-5 17_o 9d for repairs to tho fabric: and £.jIK3 towards the maintenance of services during the year. Archbishop Julius is also to submit motions providing for the alteration of the boundaries of the panties of Addington and Svdcnham.
