This shed is now to be mado fit for the purposes of u aocia! hall and Horary, tho building previously so used having been made iuto a ward for a patient. An -unhealthy drain is also to bo aitended to. Tho decision- to have these improvements effected a 003 not necessarily mean that the proposed transference of New Zealand lepers to tho Fijian leper station of Mokolai (referred to in a message from the Wellington correspondent of "The Press," which appeared in Tuesday's issue) is not likely to ta.kc place. Tlio message referred to stated that negotiations had been proceeding on the subject between the New Zealand Government and the Fijian authorities, but that nothing dsfinito lia<l been arranged. It is not assumed that tjieso negotiations havo been discontinued. Tho explanation of tho decision to effect the improvements ilie leper staiion oil Quail Island is that if arrangements are made for the transference of New Zealand lopers to Mokolai it will "be probably some considerable time beforo it can be effected.
