MEETING OF SOCIETY. A. meettfis of the Canterbury Horticultural Society was held list night, Mr-E. E. Wiltshire presiding over a good alieiidarce. The io.'/n clerk. wrote in reply lo the Society' 3 request for the use ••of Viotcria. square for the holding or the annual show, stating- thkt on account cf the large number of applications for the use of this reserve, the' Council had decided to refuse all ; applications for the use cf the reserves. The letter'was received. The following -Stios intimated their intention of contributing trc-phies in connexion with the-•Society'3 shows:—J. G: Ward and Co., .cup for most point 3in -vegetable classes; W. Bayiiaa and San, silver cup for most points in open classes for gladioli. It was- decided that the Coates'Cup he set aside for competition in the ftfelve variety open .cactus dshlia section fit the Society' 3 gladioli and dahlia, ehosv. It was also resolved that in future the ooicts for the collection of vegetables class be 7, i and 1, respectively, for first, second, and third awarda, and 3, 2 and 1 refpectively, tk© otier vegetable' sections.
