POSITION IN AUSTRALIA. (K CAELS —EBSSS ASBOdATIOH—COPIEieir) (itrBT&ALIAN AHD N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) MELBOURNE, August 14. To June 30th last, 24,381 war service homes were provided in the Commonwealth and an additional 1533 wore in the course of erection or planned. Capital expenditure amounted to £19,621,690. It was announced in the Assembly that arrears amounting to approximately £3,000,q00 are due by soldier settlers throughout Victoria to the Closer Settlement Board, which is considering the question of extending the terms of leasehold, and allowing payment of arrears to be made up in instalments.
