WOOL COMMITTEE.

NEW BOARD PROPOSED. '' The New Zealand Wool Committee, which was appointed for the purpose of ensuring that offerings : of wool at the local wool sales were not in excess of buyers' requirements, and whose work undoubtedly assisted in the stabilisation of wool values, which .was made possible by our close co-operation with 8.A.W.E.A., of Australia, has ceased its operations, and the -' Canterbury Sheepowners' Union executive have, thrd'ugh the Federation, approached the Minister with a view to some arrangements being made for the appointment of a Board who would have power to limit offerings should the Department deem it necessary to fio so in the interests of wool-growers generally, and with a view to preventing as far as. possible speculative buying by brokers after legitimate trade requirements have been met," stated the executive in its report to the annual meeting of the Union last night. "This matter will be dealt with by the Federation . Executive when 'in Wellington next month. It is suggested that this should be a precautionary measure, so that, should occasion arise, the necessary power would be available to meet the situation. Your executive wishes to record its appreciation of the assistance given by the late Wool Committee with respect to the stabilisation of wool values so successfully carried through by your Federation in conjunction with the Australian organisations."
