NORTH CANTERBURY CENTRE. The annual "meeting of the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand ;Athletic andi Cycling Union was held last night. Mr W. J. Walter presided over a good attendance. In "moving the adoption of the annual report, a resume' of which has already been published, the chairman said that the past season.had been a most successful one. During the season a few riders had been -e----fore'the Centre but, on the whole, the sport had been conducted cleanly.

CVEourke, G. Henderson, .T. • H. CloUgh, M. F. de la„Cour, and C. Stuart.. Permission was granted to' the Southbridge Crub to hold their annual sports on Labour Day (October 1 27th). The New Zealand Athletic and Cycling' Union wrote stating that W. Mackie had paid the fine imposed by the Otago Coinmittee, and his name had been removed from the defaulters' list.

Debenham. The list of officers was approved.The chairman-etated that the date* of the Timaru-ChristchuTch road race had been definitely fixed for October 4th. The response from the cycle traders for funds had, however, been very poor. The Otago Centre wrote stating that it had been agreed to encourage distance cycle road racing as far, as -possible. The cycling club in Oamaru intendeu to hold a test race with a- view to selecting a, rider to represent North Otago in the Timaru-Christchurch race, and the Otago Centre had agreed to give the sum of £3 3s to the rider gaining the fastest time in .the race. The Panama Cycling Club wrote stating that the committee of the club had decided to present two first-grade Dunlop tyies and tubea to the first financial member of the Paparua C.vcling Club to finish, irrespective of whether the rider was placed or not.
