(To tho Building Editor.) Sir,—l have before me the last copy of the "Builders' Record," giving tho figures regarding the building trade, for, I Presume, the past 12 months. These figures are in connexion with 118 cities and boroughs in New Zealand, and do not include buildings erected in country districts, where permits are not necessary. Totals for New Zealand are as follows: — Private Dwellings: New buildinga (5766) value. £4,750,033; alterations and additions £756,103; total £5,606.441. , . Business premises: New Windings (983) value £1.844,909; alterations and additions £450,715; total, £2,295,624. Other buildings: New buildings (432) value £725,026; alterations and additions. £190,991; total, £916,017. Tliis makes a grand total of 7181 new buildinga valued at £7,319,968, with alterations and additions valued at £1,398,114; a total of £8,718,082.
