Before the J wapiti was bagged, and after the kill the head had to be carried for miles over rough country until the paekhorses were readied. The wapiti is a specimen of the stock imported from America in 1905, and the weight of the skull and antlers, which have a spread of 43 inches and a total length of 48* I inches, is about 60 pounds.
