So much so, indeed, that they nre now the largest firm of the kind in the Dominion, empttrfiag over 100 hands. A cordial invitation is extended to visitors to view their large works.
Does one's haii- really '-stand en end" with fright ? Each individual hair has a tiny muscle at its root which, in the ordinary way, keops the hair flat and in position. Tho sensation of fright, however, transmits a message froju the brain to these muscles, with tiie result that they pul! tight, causing the feeling that the hairs are standing bolt, upright. I;; short-haired animals, esjKcially, these hair mußdes are easily affected. The hair stands en end at the slightest sign of danger, enabling the animals to" appear larger than they really are, and x.hus—soaifctiiacs, at least—irishten their enemies.
