OBITUARY.
Our Blenheim correspondent telegraphs: The death of Mr John Hunter Black, J.P., at his residence, Tiru Ora, Pelorus Sound, al. the age of 82, re moves an old and very highly respected resident and pioneer. He was born in Scotland, .ind Mine to ><cw Zealand when a, youth, lie landed at Dunedin, and later removed to Marlborough, and for many years worked on th:> Meadowbanl-'Station. He wad for some years a member of the .Picton Hospital Board, from which he resigned on account of advancing years. He was also a prominent member of the .Sound:; Farmers' Union. When the Prime Minister (Mr Massey) and .Mrs Masse v visited the Sounds, the deceased gentleman placed hia beautiful grounds at the settlers' disposal for receiving tho distinguished visitors. The late Mr Black married Miss 11. Herd, of Blenheim, v:hy. predeceased him some years ago. He .caves a family of three sons and five daughters.
