OBSOLETE TRAMWAYS.
TO T3S EDITOE ■ O? "TES PSBSB." Sir,—Under the heading "Obsolete Tramways," a leading article in a prominent English daily newspaper remarks: "The ratepayers should not look on with despairing indifference while the London County Council embarks on new tramway ventures. The tramways compared with motor-omni-buses have nothing in their favour except the doubtful advantage of the size of the cars. They will not be able to compete successfully with the newest types of the übiquitous motor-omni-buSes. Instead of adding to the numbers and routes of this obstructive and out-of-date vehicle, the sane policy is to call a halt at Once as a preliminary to'its'eventual estirictiom'' The editor of another newspaper comments as follows: "V7e are compelled to admit that we agree entirely with the article, a part of which' has been quoted. To. suggest scrapping tho trains wQuld be foolish, but "we coilaider that the euggestion to call a halt, at once as a i preliminary to their eventual extinction is a policy well worthy of consideration.'' Has tho Ghristshurcli City; Couneil and- Tramway Board any vision in regard to this matter >—Tours,' etc., ' ■ EI\QLIELI\.
