BARRELS OF OIL ACCOUNTED FOR. (PEESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) NELSON, August 12. The manager of the Anchor Company reports that the Regulus, while passing the Karori light on Wednesday night last, shipped a heavy sea, and lost six barrels of oil, 20 cases of kerosene, and other oils. This, no doubt, explains the finding of the barrels reported yesterday.
THOROUGH INVESTIGATION PROMISED. (FUSS'S ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, August 12. " In tho House of Representatives today, replying'to Mr Pv Fraser," Mr Massey said a thorough investigation would be held into the cause of the disaster to the steameu Ripple,. At the present moment he was inclined to think that the absence of wireless on the steamer had nothing to do with it, hut the House could rely upon it that the Government would leave nothing undone to protect the interests of that of the community "who go down to the sea in ships."
