SHAW, SAVILL LINERS. The Shaw, Sayill Company advises the following movements of vesßjls: The Waimaha now ieaves Weflingto i on Friday for completion of loaaing at Gisborne and Auckland, and is to Bail finally from Auckland on August 23rd for London, via Tencriffe. The Tairoa leaves Wanganui on Friday next for loading at "Wellington and Giaborne. She returns to Wellington to complete her cargo, and is to tail from "Wellington on September 2nd for London, via Tentriffe. •

The lonic, en route from Southampton to London, left Balboa on August 9*5. She is due at Wellington on August 31st. The Corinthic, now loading at Gishorne, leaves .there to-day for Napier and Wellington. The vessel is due at We'lington on August 17th to complete her cargo, and sails from Wellington at da£brea> on August 21st, for Southampton and London, via Monte Video and Teneriffe.

DEATH OF CAPTAIN JOHN HENDERSON. Captain John Henderson, a well-known figure on the Wellington waterfront, died on 'Saturday night. He was ; in his 72nd year. Born in Aberdeen ■in 1852, and educated at Peterhead, he begun his life at sea" with his father, who was master of a vessel trading on the coast of Scotland. In 1880 ha obtained hig master's certificate, and made a number oi trips to many parts of the worid/ hia first command being tne schooner Minnie, in which he voyaged to Portugal and the Rio Grande. In .1886 Captain Henderson arrived in Auckland by the Oid steamer lonic, and for a time was skipper of the brigantine Sarah Pile, in which he traded between Kaipara and Townsville. Two years after Arriving, in this country he joined the Wellington Harbour Board staff and was a member of the crew of the pilot boat-on August 17th, 1889, when it capsized while being towed out to the Heads by the steamer Herald to meet the ship Pleione. It was a dark night, and a big sea was running, with a heavy southerly. Pilot Sims and two of his men were drowned, Captain Henderson being. one of the two men saved. Following this experience, he joined the tally clerks' staff, until his retirement on superannuation twelve years ago. He is survived by his widow, two sons (James and Russell), and six daughters (Mrs E. Reynolds, Mrs P. S. Isbister, Mrs H. Mrs P. Jenks, and Misses D. and J. Henderson).
