CONTRACT OR DAY LABOUR?
NEW RICHMOND SCHOOL. Regarding the decision arrived at by the Canterbury Education Board, at its meeting last month, that tenders be called for the erection of the new school at Richmond, Mr E. H. Andrews has given notice of motion to rescind the resolution, Mr Andrews's notice of motion is to the effect that the resolution, that tenders be called for the erection of the Richmond school, be rescinded, and that the work be proceeded with at once by day labour. This motion will rcome up for discussion at the meeting of the Board to bs held this week. The Board has received a letter from the Department to the effect that, as the Board has done such satisfactory work by day labour, the Minister hopes that it will,bo continued in the case of the Richmond School. This letter will be, also, before the Board at the meeting at which Mr Andrews's notice of motion is discussed.
