SYDENHAM CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND. The children's playground at Sydenham will, when fully equipped, be quite a Wembley amusement park to the local juveniles. The City Council last night received a letter from the Sydenham Children's Playground Committee applying for a subsidy of ten shillings in the pound on the sum of £145, raised locally,, for the purpose of providing equipment for the children's playground at Sydenham, and submitting a plan showing the-nature of, and suggested position of, the articles they proposed to install, and also a tender for the supply and erection of same. The proposed equip•ment comprises:—Chute and repairs, £22 10s; rock-a-bye swing, costing £SB 12s 6d; giant stride, costing £l6 ss; six-swing outfit, costing £42 12s 6d; merry-go-round, costing £63 10s; three see-saws, costing £l6 12s 6d; sandpit frame, costing £7 10s: total cost, £227 12s 6d. a Cr. J. K. Archer moved that the request be granted. He said the Council had already agreed to grant a 10s subsidy for- children's playgrounds. It was hoped to open the playground officially in October. The motiott was seconded by Cr. E. McCombs. The motion was carried, and the Reserves Committee were authorised to approve of the equipment. _____
