TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL.

ANNUAL MEETING. . The annual meeting of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council. was held on Saturday night, Mr J. H. Price presiding oyer' the earlier part of. the meeting and the ne-.vly-elected president, Mr T. H. Butterfield, over the remainder. .There- was an attendance of about 25 delegates and apologies for absence wero receded from otners. The annual 'report and balance-sheet showed that the balance of, assets over'liabilities was siightly :in acta) of £2&00. During the yoar. the sum of £2300 had been spent in odcliticiis- and alterations in connexion with the Trades Hall, and for furniture for the additions; the total expenditure under these headings would be . £26uo. The unions affiliated with the Council liad taken up debentures duping the yoar totalling £2275 to r provide fiinds tor this wotb;. The hall was now awned by the unions, as theie were no. mortgage's held by outside persons. Fournier; [ Hall. Management Committee, tho trustees i (Messrs H. Worrall, F. R Cooke, and F. M. Robson), and Messrs T. H. Butterfield, G. G. Owen, W. Anam, S. Fournier, and ,the secretary; delegate to Canterbury District Council-W.E.A., Mr H.-Worrall; delegates to Labour Representation Committee, Miss. Seymour and Mr F. R. Cooke. I It decided to dicuss' the proposals j foir the alteration of the personnel of the Court of Arbitration-at a meeting to be. | held on Saturday, next, and to invite each- ! union, not .affiliated with the Council, to" , send "a delegate; the. anions affiliated with the Council will also send delegates.
