CITY COUNCIL.
■ * LAST, NIGHT'S MEETING. The Christckurch City Council met last night. Present—The Mayor (Mr J. A. Pjaaher), and Ctb. A. "Williams, A. Mcftellar, J. W. Beanland, C. P. Agar, E. H. Andrews, J. Anderson, O. W. B. Anderson, A. W. Beaven, "W. E. Leadley, ,W. H. Winaor, C.' Carr, J. K. Archer, E. McComba, F. RCooke, and B. T Armstrong, M.P. The Mayor welcomed back Cr. C. P. Agar, r?ho was granted six months leave of absence to undertake ft health trip abroad Cr, Agar said he was very pleased to b« present again at the Council table. He now felt quite competent, physically, to carry out his civic duties.
rinaanc®. The financial statement showed—General rate levied, £113,597; collocted, £111,892; outstanding, £1705. The district land account was £93,295 in debit; overdraft, £24,603; temporary loans, ££3,€-52. River Rates. A letter was received .from the 'Waimak*riri River Trust enc'osin? copy of special order directing the Chiistchurch City Council to .levy a genera] rate in the City ol Christ church on behalf of the Trust as follows: —On lands classified in Glass A, l-6d in the £; on land classified in Class B, l-7d in the £'; on lands classified in Class C, l-8d in the £.
