SEQUEL TO BANK ROBBERY. (OT cable—press association coptbight.) IAUSTRAIJAH AMD N. 7-. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) MELBOURNE, August ft. As a sequel to the robbery at the Canterbury branch, of tho Commercial Bank, the teller, Alfred William Chittiok, has been arrested and charged ■with th© theft of £522. [On entering tho bank a fortnight ago. the manager, A'lt Morgan, found the'telephone out of order, and a few minutes later a neighbouring bhopkeoper told him ho was wanted by the head office on tho shop telephone. When Mr Morgan left to answer tho call. Chittick entered tho bank, and was' confronted by an armed man who told-him not to more or he-would bo shot. The intruder then snatched the bank's revolvor from the wall and grabbed a handful of notes from a drawer. Chittick mshe4 for another revolver in the manager's room, and as he secured it the robber closed with him. Chittick fired a shot, but missed, and the man replied, with two shots, wounding Chittick in . the foot euid hand. The thief then escaped.]
