OBITUARY.
.MR JOHN HUGHEY. Mr John Hughey, who had been a resident of Rangiora for nearly fortyseven years, died unexpectedly last evening at his residence, "Brooklin," iNorthbrook road, Rangiora. He had been in poor health for the past three years, but was able to get about. At 6 p.m. yesterday he collapsed suddenly and died within. half an hour, from cerebral haemorrhage. Mr Hughey was born at Damenana, County Tyrone Ireland, and came to Canterbury in the ship Rakaia, in December," 1877. He at once made Ill's way to Ra'ngiorw! where ho found employment on farms for about five years, and then started a carrvinjr business between Rangiorn and Christchurch-. in partnership with his brother-in-law, Mr W. Sutherland. This he relinquished, to take up dairying, and for many years he had a milk round in the borough and viciiu ity. Eventually he gave his attention entirely to dairy farming, supplying milk to the factories. He took no active part in public- affairs, but was a mem(>er. of the Rangiora Lod<re of Oddfellows, and the Orange Lodge for over 42 years. He leaves a widow and grown-up family' of two sons and eight daughters.
