MOTOR-CYCLE FATALITY.
YOUNG MAN KILLED. A motor-cycle fatality occurred at the inter* cc ; on of High and St. Asaph streets about 3.45 p.m. yesterday, vrasn John Charles Pearson, a married man aged 33 years, was killed through being thrown against a telegraph post. Pearson was attempting to start his twin-cylinder motor-cycle at the iutnrsoctiou nf the two streets. He was having some difficulty in doing this, :uid ivrs seated astride his machine. Suddenly the engine started and Person, who was evidently not ready for it, fa-led to gain control before the cycle started to move. Both the rider and the cycle crashed into a telegraph pole on the opposite side of Ehe road. Pearson, who was badly injured, was conveyed to the New Zealander Hotel, where he died shortly afterwards. Dr. Guthrie was summoned, but on arrival could only pronounce life lo be extinct. The body was removed to the morgue. Pearson was a labourer employed by the Ashburton Power Board. He resided at 362 Barbadoes street. An inquest will bo opened at the Magistrate's Go art at 10.30 aaa. to-dar.
