JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. Friday, July 2oth, ■will be regarded by tho residents oi Clarixillo as a red letter day, as many old Bcboljtrs from far and near, and some of the former teachers c.3Birnb'cd in tho Peace Hill to celebrate the jubileo of tho Public School. Tho hall, which was beautifully decorated with festoons of artificial flowers, was crowded. At 2.E0 p.m. tho bell was rung and tho present master, Mr Marlow, called the roll from tho register of July, 1874. Sist of tho scholars who attended tho ech'co! fifty years ago Tvero present, and each was presented with a badge. A bwiquet was then held in ths hall. " After the loysij toe.3t, "Old Scholars" was proposed "by Mr A. J. itich and responded to ,by Jl'cs6ra B. Hoyward, J. Pirno and J. Clar);. Mrs Merrin end Mr J. Mr Smalley proposed 4 *Tho Ladies" acd Mra Frost suitably replied. Tho present scholars sat down to a sumptuous repast in tho schoolroom. Over tho entraaco sale was an arch decorated with evergreens and £1 bearing the lollowing inscription in large rod, blue and gilt letters: "Jubilee: 1574 to 1924. A hearty welcome to all." During tho afternoon tho towns tup presented a.u animated appearance, as between three and four hundred people assembled in honour of tho occasion. Great credit ia due to tho working committee of Clarjcvill®, who did all in their power to make tho jubilee a success. Holland ; songs, Mr 3 Beg Brown, Miss Ecsctc, Miss S. "Wilson, Mies Marie McMillan, Mossr3 G. Wright. B. C'ttercnole, J. Blackburn, J. Ro'>b ard B ow;i; duet, Misses Silvia ana Harriet Wiison; sailor's hornpipe, Mias Eona McMillan. After tho cosoert a sumptuous repass was served in tho supper room. This was followed by dancing, which was kept up ur.til the early houre o£ the mo'-ninff. Mrs Holland, Mrs McMillan and Mr Trrlobrecht provided tho music. Some ol v.ho visitors, who were delighted with tho cordial welcome they received, bad not been in Clarhvilie for over forty years, and iiiaaiy old associations were revived.
